Busy...

Hi everyone! 

I'm not dead, it's just I've been very busy, working in a Web of Spiderman issue, the 11th to be exact, with a script of Fred Van Lente. It will be on sale next month, probably.  I'll post here some pages soon.

This is  one of my moleskine's pages, digitally colored. I must say it was drawn in the subway, only with the Pentel pen, because it was the only moment when I wasn't drawing the pages.

No, no estoy muerto, es sólo que he estado ocupado dibujando un número de Web of Spiderman, el 11 para ser exactos, que saldrá a la venta el mes que viene en EEUU, probablemente, y que tiene un magnífico guión de Fred Van Lente. Os postearé algunas páginas pronto. Esta, mientras tanto, es una página de mi moleskine, coloreada digitalmente. Debo decir que la dibujé en el metro, a Pentel directamente, porque era el único momento en que no estaba dibujando las páginas.

Any given Sunday

An illustration I made past sunday. Pencil and digital color, as ususal.
I'm sick, guys. While other people go out and have a good time, have a sunbath on the beach,share a drinks with friends, I stay at home, drawing. It's mad. I can't stand having free time!

Una ilustración que hice el domingo pasado. Lapiz y color digital, como es habitual.
Estoy enfermo, chicos. Mientras otra gente saldría a pasar un buen rato, tomar el sol en la playa o echar unas birras con los colegas, yo me quedo en casa dibujando. De locos. ¡No soporto tener tiempo libre!

No solo de superheroes vive el hombre...

Os posteo algunos trabajos que he ido haciendo este año, al margen de los comics. El primero son unos diseños de personajes y unas portadas para el comic Fernando Torres y el consul del emperador, editado hace unos dias por SM. El guión es de Lorenzo Díaz, el dibujo del cómic corrió a cargo del magnífico Ernest Sala y el color y los acabados son obra de Christian Suarez y Dani Seijas, de Lévalo Studio. Quiero aclarar que, aunque en alguna promo dice que el dibujo es mío, yo solo hice los diseños y la portada.

Posteo también una caricatura de mi amigo Alvaro García, director de Cuore, que salió publicada con motivo del numero 200 de la revista. Creo que este ha sido mi trabajo más mediatico hasta la fecha :D

Acabo de terminar otro fill-in de Luke Cage,para el numero 3 de la miniserie, ya os postearé algo proximamente.

Marvel fill-in

Hi guys!
It has been a while since my last update, but that's because I've been busy working for Marvel in a fill-in of a Luke Cage's miniserie with the great Eric Canete and the writer John Arcudi. It has been a great honor to share an issue with Eric, because I'm a big fan of his work.
This time I did my own ink, and it was a challenge, but I'm quite satisfied with the pages.
Hope you can read the pages soon and hope you can enjoy them as much as I enjoyed drawing.

Si, lo sé, ha pasado un mes y medio desde la ultima actualización, pero eso es porque he estado ocupado trabajando en un fill-in de un episodio de una miniersie de Luke Cage para Marvel, con el gran Eric Canete y el escritor John Arcudi. ha sido todo un honor compartir el episodio con Eric porque soy un maldito friki de su trabajo y para mí, más que un trabajo, ha sido un piropo.
Esta vez hice mi propia tinta, y aunque fue un reto, estoy bastante contento con el resultado.
Espero que (esta vez sí, no como con las del Capi) podais leerlas pronto, y que disfruteis con ellas como yo disfruté dibujándolas.

Dirty job

Estoy probando con algunas técnicas mas sucias, como el grafito, usandolo como tinta en pincel seco (retoque de niveles con Photoshop incluído).
Las viñetas eran una excusa, pero quizá acabe la pagina entera.
Tened un buen día, el mío es frío.

Añado la viñeta a lápiz a petición popular.

Well, I'm trying with some "dirty technics", like graphite, using it as ink with a dry brush(using Photoshop's levels too).
The panels were an excuse. But, perhaps I 'll finish the whole page.

Ésta es una ilustración que hice para mí, para probar con el plano general, no los ángulos de camara extraños que suelo dibujar.Es la lección de Akira, Otomo es el amo. Probé con un encuadre normal, sin picados ni contrapicados, con un color natural, de día, nada espectacular, pero por otra parte, claro y eficaz. Creo que funciona.

Sobre el Payback, aún estamos esperando las respuestas de los editores franceses. Creo que les gustó el proyecto (todos a los que se lo enseñamos se quedaron la copia que les dimos) pero eso no significa que haya nada seguro. Fue una pena no poder hablar tranquilamente con ninguno de ellos. Pero bueno, ahora toca esperar.

That's an illustration I did for myself, to try a wide shot, not the weird camera angles I'm used to draw. That's the "Akira" lesson, Otomo is the master. I tried a normal view, with a ordinary color, daylight, nothing spectacular, but, in the other hand, clear and effective. I think it works.

About the Payback, we're still waiting the answers of the french publishers. I think they liked the project (everyone we met was interested and all of them kept the copy we gave them), but well, nothing is sure by now. It was a pity that we hadn't a long conversation with any of them.

For now, just wait...

What is "Payback"??

Payback is a comic, a personal project with Josep Maria Polls (script) that kept me quite busy last year. We're going to show it to some french publishers in the Angouleme Comic Con, next week. We have ten pages by now. You can see two of them below.

Payback es un proyecto personal de comic, con Josep María Polls al guión, que me ha tenido bastante ocupado este año pasado. Vamos a enseñarlo a algunos editores franceses a Angouleme, y espero que tengamos suerte. Esta es una portada provisional, pero me he quedado bastante satisfecho. Aprovecho la minima oportunidad para dar color y seguir practicando. Hay diez paginas terminadas de Payback, de las que os posteo un par a continuacion.

Color Sample Page

This is one color sample I made few weeks ago, not for editting, just to try. Marvel editors asked me about if I could make a full color page, and that's what I did. I used my favourite mutant character, Logan, of course, because its a lot of fun drawing him. And I wanted blood, and Logan is a professional in blood field, as you can see...

P.S: I'm not currently working on Marvel issues. After the Captain America one, I had no more news. I hope is only a matter of time I get work again, but, meanwhile, I'm working in other projects. Coming soon...


Esto es una prueba de color que hice hace unas semanas, no es para editarla, solo para probar. Los editores de Marvel me pidieron si podía hacer una página entera a color (les habia bombardeado ya con ilustraciones) y esto fue lo que hice. Usé a mi mutante favorito, Logan, porque me lo paso pipa dibujándolo, y porque quería sangre, y nadie es tan especialista en sangre como Logan.

P.D: Actualmente no estoy trabajando en tebeos Marvel, después de lo de Capitan America no tueve más encargos, por el momento. Espero que se trate de una cuestion de tiempo que consiga algo más, pero mientras tanto estoy metido en otros proyectos. Ya vereis...

P.D.2: Y por cierto que lo de Capitan America aún no se ha editado... igual es eso.
